Team Trials, 2003

This year, the team trials (picking the US team for the world champs) was scheduled in Muncie, just before the Nats. Ken Burdick and Mike Willcox sent along these pictures.

The winners were

Ron Columbo.

Holden Hill will be the junior member of the team. And, of course, Mike Willcox attends too, as current world champ.

Darrin Albert and Pat Willcox (Pat's apparently trying to compensate for Mike's new diagonal picture style).

Pat writes that the picture with Darrin was taken during a test session at about 10pm, July 4th. Apparently their noise blended right in with the fireworks, rain, and lightening. They finally quit flying about midnight. Jet lag is a terrible thing.

At the end of flying Sunday night just before huge storm hits. Pat is explaining what all the different scenarios that can happen the next morning to finalize the last two team positions. Mark already was on the team at this time.
