These are computer-generated renderings from Mark Rudner, showing the design of his shutoff. He has since redesigned it, shrinking it considerably (see below).

It's basically a line-pull shutoff, with the following advantages:

  • the bellcrank is mounted internally, for aerodynamic cleanliness,
  • the fuel line is external, for easy access and to keep the fuel away from the foam, and
  • the pinchoff is quite close to the sprinkler, for quick action.
