Cool picture, eh? But ignore the planes... At the top edge of the circle, you can see Pat Willcox relaxing in the shade of his custom-built model-airplane trailer, enjoying his well-earned retirement.

He writes about the picture: At our control-line flying session this past weekend at a suburb of Dallas (Farmers Branch), my son's video partner, Mark Laboyteaux, had a "pole cam" set up on the back of his pickup truck. It extends up 50 feet. The camera is on gimbals and is servo controlled. Mark "flys" the camera with a RC transmitter. Pretty neat. Those airplanes are on 52' lines and are using high dollar .15 engines. Mike will be competing next month in the World Champ competition over in Spain. I flew combat Saturday and Sunday with a bunch of buddies in a NON-contest fun fly. Great weekend. At the top of this photo I am sitting under my "custom" built model airplane trailer which I pull behind a Honda Element. I sure like this retirement scene.(grin)

My son's latest Video production DVD, "Houston F2D Combat 2006", that he produced from the control-line combat contest I CD'ed last month is the first time to do filming from a "pole cam". Pretty neat!

If anyone wants a DVD ($22 shipped) contact Mike. The funds are helping in his expenses for the World Champ contest After this weekend, his production will be really awesome because he is adding more interviews that he did between our flying sessions and yours truely, plus the "Mears" gang gets 15 seconds of "fame".(grin)
