There was an 80mph contest in Morgan Hill, California
on October 6, 2002.
- Mike Willcox
- Mitch Williams
- Guy Matthews
- Bill Maywald
Steve Smith reports:
We had ten entries, fewer then normal, five from Southern California and
five from the Bay Area. Everybody flew five rounds of intense combat. The
first match started just before 10:00 and I ran a high pace so we could be done
by 4:00. We provided lunch for the contestants. Darrin Albert won the award
for the best mid-air(s) and broke a plane every match. Mike Willcox started
out with motor problems, but when he got his motor dialed in, he had high
cut-count matches. Bill Maywald and Greg Carter also started out with motor
problems, they were running de-tuned Fox's. Most matches in morning ended
with low cut counts and a lot of air time and by the afternoon, Mike
Willcox, Mitch Williams, Guy Matthews and Bill Maywald started racking in
the cuts.
Mike Willcox sent along these pictures.

Mike got $400 for his efforts.
