The Houston World Cup F2D contest was held May 2-4, 2003.
There were actually 2 contests: 1/2A and F2d.
1/2A had 8 contestants, flying with 42' lines and starters.
CD was Pat Willcox. Arnie Delgado, Jr. (9 years old) was chief judge.
Top 4 were:
- Don Cranfill
- Richard Stubblefield
- Steve Brisbay
- Leonardo Silva
Jeff Rein, Wayne McDaniels, Freq Quezada, and Arni Delgado
filled out the field. Interestingly, Jeffrey was using the new
H&R shutoff, sized to fit 1/2A.
Pat Willcox fitted one to a plane and pronounced it first class.

Arnie Delgado (the elder)
The triple-elimination F2D contest had 14 contestants.
The Mexican World Cup team (Leonardo Silva, Arnie Delgado, and Fred Quezada)
were there, along the Mears, the Hess family, Wayne McDaniels, Allan Gree,
and Steve Brisbay. Winds to 35mph on Sunday made for some exciting
matches.
Top 4 were:
- Richard Stubblefield
- Don Cranfill
- George Cleveland
- Chris Hess
Judging was by Bill Lee, Neal Rose, John Hess, and Sheila Cranfill.

Jeffrey wins the Bowling Trophy!
The Bowling Trophy is something Stubb won at Top Gun for
the honor of being the first contestant to be eliminated in the
contest. This photo has Fred Quezada from Mexico, who was first one
eliminated on the Friday 1/2a contest, awarding this floating trophy
to Jeff Rein from Seattle, WA, who was the first person eliminated
during the F2D contest.
